About cookies
Websites use smart and useful methods to increase their convenience and make them as interesting as possible for each visitor. One of the best-known methods is related to cookies. Website owners or third parties, such as advertisers who advertise on the website you visit, use cookies.
Cookies are small text files that websites store on users’ computers. The information contained in cookies can also be used to track your browsing across different websites that use the same cookie.
Cookies are divided into duration and who sets them.
We believe it is important to inform you about the cookies that our website uses and for what purposes they are used. The purpose of informing is threefold – we want to ensure your privacy, convenience and the development of our website as best as possible. This explanation provides more information about the cookies used on our website and the purposes for which they are used.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that websites store on users’ computers. The information contained in cookies can also be used to track your browsing across different websites that use the same cookie.
Cookies are classified by their duration and by who sets them.
How do we use cookies?
We use cookies to collect visitor statistics and to record information about your choices when you browse the websites. The purpose of our use of cookies is to improve your experience as a visitor on the website.
What types of cookies do we use?
Session cookies
A session cookie is temporarily stored in your computer’s memory while you are browsing a website, for example to keep track of what language you have selected. Session cookies are not stored in your computer’s memory for a long time, they always disappear when you close your web browser.
Persistent or tracking cookies
A persistent cookie stores a file on your computer for a long time; this type of cookie has an expiration date. Persistent cookies help websites remember your information and settings when you visit in the future. This results in faster and more convenient access, for example, because you do not have to log in again.
After the expiration date, the cookie is automatically deleted when you return to the website that created it.
First-party cookies
They are set by the website itself (the same area as the browser address bar) and can only be read by that website. These cookies are usually used to store information such as your preferences so that they can be used when you visit the website again.
Third-party cookies
They are set by different names (domains) that appear in the browser address bar, i.e. not by the owners of the website you are visiting.
These cookies are used, for example, to collect information for advertising and user content. Third-party cookies can also be used to collect statistical data.
Since third-party cookies allow for more comprehensive surveys of users’ browsing habits, they are considered more sensitive to visitors, which is why most web browsers allow you to adjust your settings and not accept third-party cookies.
Flash Cookies
Flash cookies (local shared objects) are pieces of data that websites that use Adobe Flash can store on your computer.
Flash cookies are a new way of tracking your visits and storing more information about you than regular cookies. One major disadvantage of Flash cookies is that you cannot find them in your browser. They do not appear in the list of cookies that you see when you view the currently stored cookies in your web browser. Regular HTTP cookies cannot store more than 4 kilobytes of data, while Flash cookies can store up to 100 kilobytes.
The technical design of Flash cookies is similar to that of other cookies. Almost all web browsers include a Flash player that is used to display Flash presentations. One well-known example of Flash presentations is the video player on the YouTube video site. (Flash cookies are not only related to YouTube, but apply to all websites that use Flash cookies.)
Flash cookies do not have a time limit. They will last until you delete them.
How to disable cookies?
If you want websites to completely prevent you from placing cookies on your computer, you can adjust your browser settings so that you are notified before any cookie is placed. You can also adjust your settings so that the browser rejects all cookies or only third-party cookies. Similarly, you can remove your own cookies that have already been placed on your computer. Please note that you will have to adjust the settings separately for each browser and computer you use.
Please note that if you do not want cookies, we cannot ensure that our website will function properly. Some website functions may be lost and you may no longer be able to see some websites. In addition, if you reject cookies, you will not necessarily see any advertisements. This means that advertisements will no longer be tailored to your interests and will be repeated more often.
Each browser has a different method of adjusting the settings. If necessary, use the help function of your browser to make the correct settings.
For more information on disabling cookies on your mobile phone, please refer to your phone’s user manual.
